Sheryl Barden, President & CEO

As the primary contact for our employer clients, Sheryl utilizes her extensive background in employee search, screening and coaching to fulfill our clients' human resource consulting needs. A business aviation flight department recruiting expert for more than 20 years, Sheryl is a frequent guest speaker and contributor for industry organizations such as the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), Flight Safety Foundation and Women in Corporate Aviation.

Sheryl is a member of the NBAA Associate Member Advisory Council; President of the International Women's Forum of Northern California and serves on the Board of Nominations for the Flight Safety Foundation Meritorious Service Award nominations committee. She's also a member of the Flight Safety Foundation Meritorious Service Award nominations committee and a member of the International Aviation Womens Association. From 2006-2012, Sheryl served as a member of the NBAA Corporate Aviation Management Committee.

Sheryl holds a B.S. in Management with an emphasis in Personnel Management from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the McLaren School of Business at the University of San Francisco.

Colleen Kelly, Vice President of Client and Talent Relations
Colleen directs and supports our candidates throughout our Registered ProfessionalTM program, working in partnership with Sheryl to coordinate the interface between clients and candidates. Her knowledge and expertise in matching individual candidate talents and skills to our clients' needs makes her an integral part of our fulfillment team. Colleen has an extensive managerial and business background, and holds a degree in Marketing and Consumer Behavior from the University of Arizona. Colleen spearheads our Outplacement program and serves as a coach to candidates.

Jim Drake, Executive Recruiter


Jim works in a candidate-facing recruiting capacity, rigorously identifying top-level fixed- and rotor-wing pilots as well as aviation maintenance professionals who meet the exacting specification of our business aviation clients. As a 13-year veteran of executive search, Jim has been a headhunter for both Fortune-50 organizations and two of the largest recruiting firms in the world. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University and resides in San Diego, CA.

Janice K. Barden, Founder and Chairman of the Board
Janice has been a contributing member of the aviation community for more than 40 years, establishing Aviation Personnel International in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1971. Under her leadership, API's professional and technical expertise has contributed immeasurably to hundreds of outstanding flight operations, setting a high bar for quality and performance in the industry. An industrial psychologist, Janice developed the company's Psychological Testing Program, a successful battery that has evolved into API's PEQ"Professional Evaluation Quotient," which assesses candidates based on 17 factors. She completed her undergraduate work in Business Aviation at Miami University and has the distinction of being the first Kent State University Graduate in Industrial Psychology.
