Addison Conference Centre
Join API’s Sheryl Barden at the 5th annual NTBAA Safety Show-down, held by the North Texas Business Aviation Association in Addison, Texas.
On September 21 at 10:25 a.m., Sheryl will co-host a breakout session with Steve Ohmstede, the Director of Aviation for Richardson Aviation.
Session Title: The Aviation Talent Shortage & its Impact on Safety
Gone are the days of aviation professionals starting and ending their career in the same flight department. No matter their age, pilots and maintenance professionals are leaving for better opportunities—including higher compensation packages, more stable schedules and better work/life balance.
In this session, join Steve Ohmstede and Sheryl Barden as they host an interactive “fireside” chat with attendees regarding talent attraction and retention challenges.
Specifically, learn about the latest changes in the employment landscape, and how it’s evolving from an employer market to an employee market.
From the perspective of a hiring manager, Ohmstede will share his views on how the shortage of maintenance and pilots are affecting business aviation flight departments. Meanwhile, Barden, an aviation recruiting expert, will share the different paths that led us to the talent shortage for both pilots and maintenance professionals. Together, they’ll discuss solutions, invite attendees to share their feedback and concerns and share what aviation reporting executives and HR/recruiting partners need to know.
Attendees will learn to:
- Attract and retain talent in a highly competitive job market.
- Develop tools to succeed, including compensation plans and, mentor programs and individual development programs.
- Recognize where your department stands as well as how to benchmark your department against others.
- Know data to take back to your aviation reporting executives and HR/recruiting partners.
This session is intended for anyone responsible for hiring, building and engaging teams: Reporting Executives, Aviation Directors, Maintenance Directors, Safety Managers, Chief Pilots and aspiring pilot, maintenance and flight attendant leaders.
